The National Labor Relations Board (“NLRB”) will conduct the vote here at The Children's Garden by United States Mail. Remember the vote is by secret ballot. Below are the details of the election:
Election Details
The NLRB will mail a ballot packet to your home address on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 4:30pm. If you do not believe The Children's Garden has your most current mailing address, you should provide an update to Michelle immediately.
Those eligible to vote in the election All full-time and regular part-time Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Support Teachers, Substitute Teachers, and Cooks employed by the Employer at its facility located at 2035 NW Front Ave., #100, Portland, OR 97209.
If you believe you are eligible to vote but do not receive a ballot packet in the mail by 4:00pm on Friday, May 29, 2026, the NLRB asks that you call the Subregion 36 office at (503) 326-3085 to request a replacement ballot.
If you want to vote, you must fill out the ballot, place it in the envelope provided, follow the instructions provided by the NLRB and return it to the NLRB office so that it is received by 4:00pm on Friday, May 29, 2026.
The NLRB will count by videoconference at 3pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. The result will be determined by the majority of votes actually cast in the election.
Instructions to fill out and complete the ballot:
Each ballot will have one question: "Do you wish to be represented for purposes of collective bargaining by The Children's Garden Workers Union?”
If you want to be represented by the union, simply place an “X” in the box labeled YES.
If you do not want to be represented by the union, simply write an “X” in the box labeled NO.
All you should do is place an “X” in the box of your choice, fold up the ballot and put it in the envelope.
Do not write anything else on the ballot, such as your name, classification, or department. If you do write anything else on the ballot other than the “X” in the box of your choice, the NLRB will likely not count your ballot.
Voting is quick, easy, and secret. Please exercise your right to vote. A simple majority of those who actually appear, and vote determines the election result, either in favor of or against The Children's Garden Workers Union. Not voting does not mean a NO or a YES vote to the union; it means that your voice is not heard.
